Canuck Place Children’s Hospice provides specialized care for children living with a life-threatening illness and around the clock support for their families. Their goal is to enhance the quality of life through therapies, pain and symptom management and supportive services that are sensitive to the personal, cultural and religious values of each family. Through donations, over 400 British Columbian children and families are able to access Canuck Place’s programs and services at no cost. Canuck Place is an incredible facility and includes a number of private rooms where children and their families can spend time together. Millson became aware of the fact that many of these rooms had older televisions and AV equipment that did not always function properly and could be difficult to operate when it did. As you can imagine, this provided another source of frustration and disappointment in an already difficult situation for many families who simply wanted to cheer on the Canucks, watch a movie or play a new video game with their child. We decided that this was a situation we could do something about, so we reached out to our industry colleagues and are happy to report that with their generous assistance, Millson will be completely replacing all of the old and troublesome equipment with brand new, reliable and easy to use systems this fall.
We are in the process of building and testing the new systems at our facility and are scheduled to install the first four of these in September of this year. Millson is exceptionally proud to support Canuck Place Children’s Hospice and as part of our commitment to this worthy cause we will be providing all installation, wiring, programming, training and ongoing service and support to ensure these systems are never cause for concern again.
We especially want acknowledge and thank Sony of Canada, Shaw Cable Systems and Sound Developments for their kind and very generous donations of equipment for this project.
